African Refugee Development Center
The African Refugee Development Center (ARDC) is a grassroots, community-based, non-profit organization that was founded in 2004 by African asylum seekers and Israeli citizens, in order to assist, protect, and empower African refugees and asylum seekers in Israel. As the community’s needs develop, so do ARDC’s programs. In 2009, the education project was formed and has since provided assistance to more than 2,000 students. Ranging from language classes and tutoring to higher education support, all our programs promote empowerment and self-sufficiency.
ARDC also oversees two additional projects: Asylum Application Assistance (AAA) and Public Relations and Advocacy (PRA). The goal of the AAA project is to safeguard the rights of African refugees and asylum seekers in Israel from harmful and unfair policies. Through casework, individuals looking for assistance with identity issues, obtaining visas, applying for asylum and/or relocation. The PRA project works with stakeholders within and outside of Israel to generate change in public opinion and policy for African refugees and asylum seekers in Israel.
Vision: To enable and ensure that all refugees and asylum seekers are free from persecution, live in dignity and have an opportunity to realize their aspirations.
Mission: To empower, protect and assist African refugees and asylum seekers in Israel by advocating on their behalf and enabling processes that increase their awareness, ensure participation and inspire policy change.
Core Values:
1. Volunteer-based maximum utility of limited resources,
2. Grassroots: working close to the ground; and
3. Synergy: collaboration with partners in the field for greater impact.
